About us
Award winning garden designer Nick Dickinson, has been creating beautiful gardens in and around Stroud for four decades now. Nick is a much sought after plantsman and garden designer who is able to take a design brief, however sketchy and transform your garden into something that will really stimulate the senses..
At the core of Elementa is the ability to produce sheer good design. We are renowned for quickly and accurately interpreting our client`s brief and then producing elegant, bold schemes that they recognise as their own.
Elementa is blessed to have some exceptional landscape technicians to install the scheme for you, to the budgets set at the design stage. Nick Dickinson personally supervises the installation to ensure that those essential details are there in the completed garden.
Nick physically built all his own designs over the first two decades of his career. This gives him an invaluable insight into not only the technical aspect of an installation but also a practical lesson in form and function.
Garden Design Project Stroud
Although this project in Stroud was of traditional architectural style, the clients liked Elementa`s elegant contemporary design style which suited their beautiful finishing of the interior.
Every aspect of the design had to be stylish yet practical with as many `rooms` as possible so that they could linger in each as the mood or time of day took them. We take you through aspects of the project we designed and built to achieve the clients vision for their new home.
An evening oasis in which to sit with friends at the end of the day. Almost an outside room.
This circular paving area set within an otherwise rectangular space lends itself to being a really comforting area surrounded with structural planting that will always be in your peripheral vision.
The strong presence of red brick in the boundary walling has been brought in to the paving surfaces and also lends it`s self to accentuate the circular motion of the terrace.
The seating area has been carefully positioned so that the sun bathes this area at about the time of evening that this area will be used.
The BBQ, never an attractive addition to a calm seating area is annexed by keeping it outside the main seating area.
Garden Design Gloucestershire
A dramatic invitation to explore further into the main garden.
Steps with a central water feature rill split the steps to maintain the line leading to the main upper garden.
The pleached Hornbeam screen further emphasise the compartment that is the upper garden with their winter rustling adding to their dimension.
Striking large architectural pots and seating provide focal points and local interest at key positions.
The planting style is largely textural but with the emphasis of movement from the tall grasses but bringing the planting to lower level either side of the steps so as not to over shadow the lower areas.
The planting scheme simply uses mauve, pale blues and almost the only other colour other than white, being pale citrus yellows, always a fantastic combination with the pale blues.
